Project Completion: Roocycle Boardwalk, Stage 1 – Fred Hollows Reserve, Randwick

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of Stage 1 of a Roocycle WPC boardwalk at Fred Hollows Reserve in Randwick. Total length of the boardwalk for Stage 1 is 70m. The complete boardwalk, including structural elements (posts, bearers, joists, stringers, decking, handrail and seating) is constructed entirely from Australian made Roocycle composites. The boardwalk has been designed and engineered in accordance with Australian Standards and to meet site specific requirements.

The wood plastic composite Roocycle material has been chosen as the construction material as it provides a long service life with zero maintenance required. This makes it the ideal choice for such a construction project with the charcoal colour blending nicely into the natural bushland environment. Roocycle is a 95% recycled material made with recycled plastic and timber waste materials. It is also 100% recyclable making it a sustainable construction material. This project alone means that 8.0 tonnes of waste material have been diverted from landfill!

Project Update: Waverley Cemetery Roocycle Fence

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently been contracted to replace the fencing surrounding the Waverley Cemetery. In total there is roughly 600m of fencing upgrades required.

As you can see from the above photo the existing timber fence is showing its age and is rotten and sagging in most places. Council chose to replace the fence with the Moodie Roocycle Arris Rail Fence. The benefit of going with Roocycle materials is that they require no ongoing maintenance, will never rot, resistant to termite attack and are a sustainable solution. Not only that, but it looks great too!

In total, approximately 16.5 tonnes of waste will be diverted from landfill as a result of this project.

Product Focus: Moodie HD Outdoor Table Tennis Table

Project Update: Caroline Chisholm Reserve Upgrade

Moodie Outdoor Products is currently undertaking the upgrade of Caroline Chisholm Reserve at Winston Hills. The project involves the installation of two 3x3m Buller Skillion shelters. The shelters feature steel posts hot dip galvanised and powder coated. The roof members are timber and colourbond roofing panels provide protection from the elements.

Furniture throughout the park is from the Alley range and features dressed Roocycle seat slats. These seats will continue to look great year after year with zero maintenance required.

The final component of the reserve upgrade is the construction of a deck. The substructure of the deck is constructed entirely out of Roocycle ET. The decking boards are Roocycle Enviro. Roocycle is the perfect material for the construction of this deck as it is hard wearing, long lasting, requires zero maintenance and has the added benefit of being a sustainable construction solution. As Roocycle is non-permeable it can be installed directly into the ground without ever rotting away.

In all, approximately 4.5 tonnes of waste materials have been diverted from landfill!

Project Completion: Roocycle Upgrade for Concrete Grandstand

Moodie Outdoor Products was recently contracted by Parramatta City Council to upgrade the concrete grandstand seating at Boronia Park in Epping.

The existing concrete grandstand has been enhanced by the addition of Roocycle seating slats that curve nicely with the lines of the existing structure. Roocycle was chosen as the material of choice as it is hard wearing, long lasting, requires zero maintenance and has the added benefit of being a sustainable construction solution. Moodie Outdoor Products is proud to offer you Ausafe FRP GripDeck. This decking product is designed for use on boardwalks, bridges, decks and ramps. GripDeck is constructed using Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) making it an ideal product for use in harsh environments and to provide a long service life.

GripDeck has achieved a P5 slip test rating (AS4586:2013 Wet Pendulum Slip Test Method). This means it is suitable for use in applications such as access ramps where slip-ability can be a concern. Installation design gap is 4mm reducing the chance of high heel entrapment. Fixings are also concealed. Specified span is 900mm for pedestrian loads.
