Project Completion: Roocycle EN Retaining Wall – Clifton Beach, Cairns

Moodie Outdoor Products recently supplied a range of Roocycle EN materials to Cairns City Council for the upgrade of a retaining wall at Clifton Beach. As you can see from the photo below, the existing retaining wall constructed with Treated Pine had failed and was in need of replacement.

Roocycle EN is a wood plastic composite material and was selected by council to build a retaining wall that is long lasting, requires no maintenance and is made using sustainable materials. An added benefit of selecting Roocycle EN material is that 2.0 tonnes of waste materials has been diverted from landfill.

The entire retaining wall was constructed using 200x50mm sleepers. The vertical posts are 1.8m long and the wall was constructed with 4 horizontal sleepers to provide 0.8m wall height (with 2 sleepers buried).

Civenex 2015 Wrap Up

Moodie Outdoor Products recently exhibited at the 2015 Civenex Show. On display were a range of Roocycle materials, Street Furniture, Abilitybox garden and feature wall and the range of vandal resistant Solar Bollard Lights.

Product Focus: Beach Access Solutions

Project Completion: Sporting Equipment Storage Shed

Moodie Outdoor Products recently completed the supply and installation of a sporting equipment storage shed at Allan Border Oval in Mosman, Sydney.

The shed was designed in conjunction with Outside Products to provide a customised storage solution for the Mosman Cricket and Soccer clubs that would fit within the narrow confines of the site. The shed was manufactured in kit form and delivered to site with installation taking 3 days to complete.

Moodie’s were contracted to pour the concrete slab that would also include a 3 x 4m compound area at the rear of the shed and a strip footing for new cricket net support posts. Scope of works also included additional fencing around shed and compound to match existing fence.

As the shed is used to store training equipment that is used during evening training sessions lighting was required to be installed. With no mains power available at the site an alternative solution was required. Moodie’s was able to provide the client with a functional solar lighting solution.

Product Focus: K9 Bag Dispenser

The K9 Bag Dispenser is designed to be situated in parks and dog walking areas and are made completely of 316 stainless steel to provide a robust unit with a long service life. This lockable unit holds 1,000 biodegradable bags and is easy to restock once the bags have been used up. The K9 Bag Dispenser has a fixing height of no more than 1m which means that the visual impact of the unit is minimal. The K9 Bag Dispenser can also be mounted to existing structures such as bins or posts.

To save on the need for extra signage the K9 Bag Dispenser is laser etched with instructions and can even be customised to include Council logo.

Project Completion – Elizabeth McCrae Playground Shade Sail

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed the installation of fully engineered Shade Sail structure at Elizabeth McCrae Park in Redfern, Sydney to provide shade for the children’s playground. The shade sails have been designed to provide maximum shading to the playground and to withstand wind loadings up to 120km/h.

Moodie’s were able to provide their client with an artistic impression of the shade structure during the approval phase (shown below).

The installation of the structure was completed over 2 days to minimise the impact of the works on the local community.

Abilitybox Planter Range

Moodie Outdoor Products is proud to present the Abilitybox Planter range. These planter boxes are constructed using the Abilitybox panels and come in a variety of sizes and materials that allow you to configure the planters to suit your requirements.

Materials selected to give it the ability to last for many seasons. Available in 3 material types:

Q235 Core-X Steel
Galvanised Steel
Zinc sealed and Powdercoated Mild Steel (Sand Black)

Panels are available in the following lengths:

400mm
600mm
1200mm

So your planter box can be made in any combination of the above panel sizes (i.e. 400mm x 1200mm or 600mm x 600mm etc).

The planter boxes can be used as garden surrounds and installed directly onto soil to negate the need for water trays. However, water trays and screens are available so that the planter boxes can be used on hard surfaces or even indoors!
