Project Progress Report: Queanbeyan Federation Garden

skm queanbeyan _4

Queanbeyan Council has recently been undertaking a project where they are creating a 7 point federation star as a feature garden.

77-rust

The council has chosen to use the Skemah 77a steel edging in a pre-rusted finish. Given the versatility of the Skemah edging this product was the perfect choice for the project. Being a stockist Moodie Outdoor Products was able to supply the materials for the project instantaneously.

The Skemah number 20 Professional Mount was chosen to hold the edging in place as it also allowed for ease of levelling of the edging. The project is nearing completion so be sure to check back in to see the finished project photos.

New Product Release: Bellitalia – Organics Range

funny.1_f

Moodie Outdoor Products are excited to bring you the latest offering from Bellitalia Street Furniture – The Organics Range.

The creations of the Organic range were born from the talented Czech artist Matous Holy. Originally, he used an organic material like soil in order to shape his idea of a LIVING street furniture. All the Organic pieces of furniture are provided with dynamic lines to fit into different settings in an harmonic fashion.

harmony.2_f

Polyurethane paintings from automotive industry are used for finishing, they grant a long pigmentation lifespan and lend all the pieces of street furniture an original gracefulness. Products from the Organic range are designed by using 3D modelling software for designing street furniture products, manufactured using aggregates coming from local suppliers and are poured in resin moulds. After curing in mould, their surfaces are double treated: firstly by means of an epoxidic varnish coating choosing among Flame Red RAL 3000, Jet Black RAL 9005 or Pure White RAL 9010 and secondly through polyurethane paintings, the same used for automotive industry. All items are available also in white granite painted with anti-decay coatings; in this version seat surfaces are smooth formwork while side surfaces are finely bush-hammered.

All Organic items are equipped with attaching points by means of threaded steel axle boxes where ropes are hooked up. After the installation, all the attaching points are sealed with Bellitalia company aluminium plates.

Project Completion: ‘The Coal Loader’ Roocycle ET Staircase Link, Waverton

Coal Loader - 1

The Coal Loader, itself, is a former industrial site that operated from the early 1920s to the early 1990s. It functioned primarily as a transfer depot for coal from bulk carriers to smaller coal-fired vessels. The site operated for over 70 years before being decommissioned It was dedicated as public open space in 1997 and formally transferred to North Sydney Council in 2003.

Since this time, the site has been transformed into the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability, an exciting regional community resource in Waverton.

Coal Loader Finished 3

As part of the project, a series of steps and landings were required to link Balls Head Rd and Balls Head Dr through an existing nature reserve leading up to the Coal Loader.

Coal Loader Finished 2

Roocycle ET, produced from recycled wood and plastic was the logical choice of building material. It’s structural qualities and broad range of profiles enabled the entire staircase link to be constructed from Roocycle ET. Around 4,000kgs of Roocycle ET was used to construct this project thus diverting waste that would have otherwise ended up as landfill.

All components including stringers, sub-floor structure, hand rails, treads and decking are dressed Roocycle ET.

Total length of staircase is 42m x 1.2m wide with handrails both sides.

Steps include luminescent stair nosing plus an additional galvanised hot-dipped gal pipe handrail.

Project Progress Report: Woy Woy Landfill Shelter

Woy Woy - 1

Currently under construction this shelter is built entirely from recycled wood waste and plastic, diverting  4.3 tonnes of landfill into a useful, long-lasting community facility.

It has  been designed, engineered and certified with all Roocycle ET profiles being manufactured to specific lengths minimising wasteful offcuts of material.

Woy Woy - 2

The shelter is designed to be an information centre looking out over the landfill operations and  will also include noticeboards made from Roocycle ET wood/plastic composite.

A colourbond roof will be installed with a water tank at the back. Be sure to keep an eye on the Moodie Outdoor Products blog to see the pictures of the completed shelter in the next couple of weeks.

Roocycle ET Pedestrian Bridges – The Kokoda Memorial Walkway

008

Moodie Outdoor Products has recently completed an upgrade to The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway in Concord. The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway covers more than 800 metres from Rhodes Station to Concord Hospital in Sydney’s inner-west, and runs along the mangrove-studded shores of Brays Bay on the Parramatta River. The walkway is a unique tribute to the bravery of Australian troops who fought through atrocious conditions and against vastly superior enemy numbers in the Papua-New Guinea campaign of July 1942-January 1943.

009

The two old timber bridges along the track had significant termite, and dry rot damage. They needed to be replaced with a strong, durable, long lasting building material that required no maintenance. Roocycle ET was the obvious choice for a complete rebuild with it’s ‘raw charcoal’ colour blending nicely into the natural bushland environment.

Large ET posts (250x250mm) were produced to replace the old existing ones and 230x130mm beams were used to span the creek beds. Roocycle ET commercial Tri-Deck (190x55mm) was used for decking.
